I was hanging out with my old friends, catching up and talking about life, when one of my friends suddenly asked me “Why did you choose to study at the University of the Cordilleras?”. I did not know what to answer because it was so abrupt, but the first answer that came to my mind is that, because the location of the university is within the central business district of the city. When I got home, as I was eating my dinner the question suddenly popped into my mind. I was thinking about why I chose University of the Cordilleras, and so I decided to share to you guys the advantages in studying at the University of the Cordilleras. 

Trimester

The university is a trimester based system. This is actually favorable because it generally allows students more flexibility in scheduling classes. It has a large availability of classes for students, which means we have more opportunities to take more diverse subjects. Normally, courses in other schools are to be taken for four years, but in UC courses will only last for about three years (except for the college of nursing). A trimester system seems to be feasible and advantageous, it will help the students to be more focused and it keeps them fast track to the professional world.

 

Location

               The school should prioritize the importance of the place and understand how it shapes college options. Colleges should be accessible, and that is why location is one of the advantages of studying in UC because the geography of where UC is located is near the central business district of the city. It is where retail and commerce take place. It is the center point for transportation networks, which is why it easier for students to travel from their homes to the university. It is also near shopping malls, different food places, offices and other businesses, for, extracurricular activities should also be considered.  Which is why location plays a huge role in experiences and opportunities in order to truly get everything out of your educational experience.

               Scholarships is very important, because it is the instrument of encouragement towards education. It provides an opportunity for many people to earn an education.  Guess what? University of the Cordilleras also offers courses that are not offered by other schools. Like, forensic accounting, digital marketing, and behavioral science. These courses are now available in UC. The school provides wide variety of courses to choose from, to give students a new learning experience that will surely enhance their standard of learning.

The school facilities attracts many students because of the advancement in technology and its practical advantages. That’s also one of the reasons why I chose UC. Every classroom has one projector and wide screen for viewing. UC maintains latest technology in ICT. UC has, 41 Apple iMac Desktops! University of the Cordilleras is the only school in the city of Baguio who offers and use Apple iMac Desktops. More advanced to iOS programming in order to expose students and to produce an effective and competitive graduates and students inside and outside of the organization. These desktop used in animation, programming, sketching, editing, app developer and others that can help them improve and develop their own skills in these fields. Laboratory equipment are complete and is provided to students to achieve their expectations in their learning experience. The school library as well, is equipped with required reference books and general collections.
